Russian legislative election, 1993
The parliamentary election in Russia in 1993 was the first election to the Duma in post-Soviet Russia. It took place on 12 December 1993 more than a month after the end of the Russian constitutional crisis, which had passed a resolution of the still existing since the Soviet era parliament ( the Supreme Soviet ) by President Boris Yeltsin. The term of this first Duma was two years.
On the same day a referendum on the new Constitution of the Russian Federation was carried out in Russia, which was adopted and two weeks later came into force.
