Russian legislative election, 1995

The parliamentary election in Russia in 1995 to the State Duma in Russia took place on 17 December 1995 for the second time after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

The turnout was just under 65%. The special feature of this election was the high number of participating parties and election blocks. She was 43, far more than in the previous elections in 1993 (13) and the follow- elections 1999 ( 26). Overall, attracted delegates from 23 political parties and blocks in the Duma.

When choosing a total of 993 foreign election observers from 61 countries were present, of which 434 representatives of OSCE States that started the conduct of the vote in 45 federal subjects of Russia on site.
