The Russian Penguins was a Russian ice hockey club, which was active in the 1993/94 season in the International Hockey League.

History

The Russian Penguins were a professional ice hockey team, which consisted only of Russian players and has completed a game against each team in the International Hockey League during the main round of the 1993/94 season. The Penguins was able to win twice and lost the remaining eleven games. Overall, they were able to earn six points. Top scorer of the team was Andrei Vasilyev, who scored 16 points in 13 games.

In 1993, the then owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Howard Baldwin decided, along with various sponsors to enter the Russian club CSKA Moscow HK. The aim was to allow the NHL team, better access to Russian talent, and thus to have an advantage over the competition. The cooperation held two years and was dissolved when retreated Baldwin and other sponsors.
