Russian Trotter

The Russian trotter (originally Metis Trotter ) is a breed of horse that originated from the crossroads of the Orlov Trotter and the American Standardbred beginning of the 20th century.

Exterior

Since the Russian trotter should also be used for the finishing of other races, much emphasis is placed on the minimum size and to a harmonious appearance. The Russian trotter, therefore, has a much more pleasing appearance than the pure -bred racing performance on American trotter.

Interior

The Russian Trotter is a hard, race -grade horse.

Breeding history

When it came to the first comparisons between the Orlov Trotter and American Standardbred beginning of the 20th century, the Orlov Trotter was inferior to the Standardbred in the race so far that within a few years the Russian Trotter breed was changed from Orlov on a cross of Orlov and Standardbred. The newly created race first received the name Metis Trotter ( Trotter intersection ). With the establishment of the Soviet Union was for some time the Orlov trotter named Russian trotter. 1949 the Orlov his original name was again awarded and Metis Trotter has since been officially listed as Russian trotter. He is about the size of the French trotter and is compared with the Standardbred a late developer, that is, it can be found only at the age of about four years on the track and reached its highest level of performance often only at the age of six years.
