Geography

Geographical location

Rust is located in the Rhine valley. To the west are the Vosges Mountains, east of the Black Forest. Rust is adjacent to the nature reserve Taubergiessen. By Rust the River Elz flows. West of Rust is the Rhine, and thus the border with France.

Neighboring communities

In the north, adjacent to the Rust community Grafenhausen, to the east is the municipality of ring home. In the south Rust borders Rheinhausen in Emmendingen and to the west by the unincorporated area Rheinau.

History

The place Rust was mentioned for the first time in 762 in the so called Eddo Testament. The village belonged to the district of Lahr long and came to its dissolution in 1973 the newly formed Ortenaukreis.

Balthasar Castle

Church
