Rustam Saidov

Rustam Saidov; Cyrillic: Рустам Саидов, English transcription: Rustam Saidov ( born February 6, 1978 in Tashkent) is a former Uzbek amateur boxer in the super heavyweight division. He won the 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2007, the Asian Championships and the 2002 and 2006 Asian Games. His greatest successes were winning the bronze medal at the Summer Olympic Games in 2000, and the bronze medal at the World Championships in 2003.

Boxing career

In the 18th Asian Games in 1995 in the Uzbek capital Tashkent, he was defeated in the quarterfinals of the Iranian Bahman Azizpour.

In the 20th Asian Games in 1999, which were also held in Tashkent, he finally won the gold medal. He defeated it Mijiti Abuduxikeer from China, Ali Mansour from Lebanon and in the finale the Kazakhs Muchtarchan Dildabekow ( 8:7 ).
