Rusty Crawford

Samuel Russell "Rusty " Crawford ( born November 7, 1885 in Cardinal, Ontario, † December 19, 1971 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1907 to 1931 among others for the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Arenas in the National Hockey League has played.

Career

Rusty Crawford began his career as a hockey player in the amateur field. There he played 1907-1912 in his Canadian home for the Montreal Montegnards, Newington Ontario, Prince Albert Mintos, Saskatoon Hoo- Hoos and Saskatoon Wholesalers. Subsequently, the winger ran for five years for the Quebec Bulldogs of the professional league National Hockey Association. With the team he won in 1913 the prestigious Stanley Cup. For the season 1917/18 he joined the Ottawa Senators from the succession League National Hockey League. For the team in eleven games, he scored a goal before he was transferred to league rivals Toronto Arenas, with which he again won the Stanley Cup at the end of the season.

From 1919 to 1921 Crawford played for the Saskatoon Crescents in the SSHL. He then spent five years in the Western Canada Hockey League, a rival league of the NHL in which he stood for Saskatoon Moose Jaw, Saskatoon Tigers, Tigers Calgary and Vancouver Maroons on the ice. After the dissolution of the League, he was obliged by the Minneapolis Millers, for which he took four years in the AHA. Most recently, he played in the season 1930/31 for his former club Prince Albert Mintos, and he ended his career at the age of 45 years. In 1962, the Canadian was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
