Ruth Riley

Ruth Ellen Riley ( born August 28, 1979 in Ransom, Kansas, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the San Antonio Silver Stars in the Women's National Basketball Association.

Career

College

Ruth Riley played until 2001 for the women's basketball team at the University of Notre Dame.

WNBA

Riley was selected by the Miami Sol on the fifth place in the WNBA Draft 2001. In her first season, she already has secured a place in the starting lineup of the sol after 12 games.

One day before the 2002 season started, she broke a finger, thus they missed the first time in her career a few games due to injury. As the Miami Sol einstellten their playing mode after this season, she was selected in the Dispersal Draft by the Detroit Shock.

Already in the 2003 season they could win for the first time with the Shock a WNBA Championship. Since she returned the best performance in the WNBA Finals, she was appointed to the Finals MVP. In the 2006 season they won their second WNBA championship with the Detroit Shock. In February 2007, she was transferred to the San Antonio Silver Stars for Katie Feenstra.
