Rutsweiler am Glan

Rutsweiler am Glan is a municipality in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Altenglan.

Geography

The place is situated on the Glan at the foot of Potzbergs in Kusel Musicians country in the Western Palatinate. To the north is Altenglan, to the south and west is Theisbergstegen Haschbach am Remigiusberg.

History

Rutsweiler was first documented in 1303, when Count Georg von Veldenz gave its approval for the case of goods in the district by Heinrich von Zweibrücken as a jointure for his wife. First part of the Empire State, it then belonged to the county Veldenz, Pfalz -Zweibrücken, Pfalz- Veldenz and finally from 1733 to Electoral Palatinate.

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the region and annexed after the peace of Campo Formio (1797 ). From 1798 to 1814 the village belonged to the French department of Thunder Mountain and was assigned to the Canton Wolfenstein. Taken in response to the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) Agreements and a barter agreement with Austria the region came in 1816 with the Kingdom of Bavaria. As of 1818, the municipality Rutsweiler was later assigned to the country 's Commissariat Kusel in the Bavarian Rhine circle the county of Kusel am Glan, from 1938, the district of Kusel emerged.

From 1853 to 1972 counted Rutsweiler for mayor Godel Hausen or Theisbergstegen. After the administrative reform in Rhineland -Palatinate is one Rutsweiler since 1972 to the municipality Altenglan.

Parish council

The local council in Rutsweiler consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon is: " On green Dreienberg in silver right Merkurium a blue sign, above a blue orb also left a rotbewehrter and rotbezungter blue lion".

The coat of arms combines the history of the village with its former economic importance and location on the wooded Potzberg. The membership of the National Rural and Palatine to the different lines carrying the orb and the Lion, both in the velden hiss colors bill. The striking Potzberg is expressed by the three green mountain. The Merkurium character reminiscent of the mercury mining in the district. The coat of arms of the municipality Rutsweiler am Glan was approved on 27 September 1978 by the District Government of Rheinhessen -Pfalz.

Economy and infrastructure

By Rutsweiler the B 423 leads in the southwest is the A 62 in Altenglan and Theisbergstegen are stations of the railway line Landstuhl - Kusel.
