Rutten (Flevoland)

Rutten is a village in the municipality Noordoostpolder in the province of Flevoland in the Netherlands. Its population is 1733 (as of 2010 ).

Name

The town's name comes from a Rutten here in the 14th century dialed village called Ruthne. This was north of Urk Ruthne itself goes back to the Germanic word for ruhitha scrub.

History

Rutten was designed by the Dutch graduate engineer W. Bruin in 1952 as a village and created for every 1,000 inhabitants. The town is located at an intersection of the road N 712 and the Ruttensweg to the shops and craft shops were settles. This junction structure, forming four quadrants, three of which were built. The fourth was reserved for leisure and recreation and the local holiday park therefore also bears the name Green Quadrant. 1953 moved into the houses one of the first residents. 1989 permits for further expansion of the town were given.
