The Ruwais industrial town (also Ruweis, Arabic الرويس al - Ruwais ) was founded in 1982 and is a city in the United Arab Emirates. It is located in the Western Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the coast, about 270 km west of the city of Abu Dhabi, southeast of Jabal az- Zanna peninsula on the E11 motorway, and covers an area of 218 km ². The population was 15 511 for the 2005 census. Ruwais divided into the industry and the settlement complex in Ruwais, built and operated by the state-owned petroleum company " Abu Dhabi National Oil Company" ( ADNOC ).

The industrial complex consists of natural gas liquefaction plants, Erdölraffenerien, fertilizer factories, power plants and some removed the oil terminal Jabal az- Zanna on the peninsula. The 1,500- MW -scale power plant with seawater desalination plant Shuweihat at the western end of the peninsula still belongs to the town of Ruwais.
