Ruzayevka

Rusajewka (Russian Рузаевка, moksch. Орозай / Orosai, ersjan. Оразай ош / / Orasai osch ) is a city in the Republic of Mordovia (Russia) with 47 523 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 25 km southwest of the Republic capital Saransk on Insar, a right tributary of the Volga river system in Alatyr.

Rusajewka is the Republic of subordinated administratively directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

History

Rusajewka was created in 1631 as a village Urasajewka. 1783 has already been mentioned under the present name. After the construction of a railway line through the town in 1893 - a little later section of the original route of the Trans-Siberian Railway - and expansion of the station to a railway hub for the development of today 's second largest city of the Republic began. Town was chartered Rusajewka 1937.
