Ryan Callahan

Ryan Callahan ( born March 21, 1985 in Rochester, New York ) is an American professional ice hockey player. Since March 2014, he plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League for the position of right winger.

Career

Callahan played as a teenager in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Storm. This he spent four seasons faithfully and won in 2004 with the team the champion of the league.

After Callahan was already selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 by the New York Rangers in the fourth round at 127th place, brought him this early in the season 2006/ 07 for the first time in their farm team in the American Hockey League. In the Hartford Wolf Pack, the right winger led a good and also spent part of the 2007/08 season there. In the summer of 2007, the strikers won in training camp Rangers a place in the squad and then played 52 season games.

For the 2011/12 season Callahan was appointed as successor by Chris Drury for the 26th captain in the history of the New York Rangers.

After Callahan could not agree on a contract extension with the Rangers, he was released before the trade deadline on March 5, 2014, a first- and a second-round vote in exchange for Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Internationally

Callahan participated with Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympics and won the silver medal with the team.
