Ryan McDonagh

Ryan McDonagh ( born June 13, 1989 in Saint Paul, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player standing since 2010 with the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League contract. He is the nephew of former NFL quarterback Steve Walsh.

Career

Ryan McDonagh played during his junior period from 2004 to 2007 at the Hockey Team of Cretin - Derham Hall High School in his hometown of Saint Paul in the high school league system of the United States. After completing his high school career McDonagh won the annual award as Minnesota Mr. Hockey, which honors the best high school player of the U.S. state of Minnesota in the 2007 calendar year. Subsequently, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 in the first round in twelfth position of the Montreal Canadiens. The next three seasons spent McDonagh at the University of Wisconsin -Madison and went for the ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association on the ice. On 30 June 2009, the Canadiens gave his rights in a transfer of business together with Pawel Walentenko, Christopher Higgins and Doug Janik in exchange for Tom Pyatt, Michael Busto and Scott Gomez from the New York Rangers.

In the 2009/10 season, his last at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, led the defense the hockey team as team captain on the ice. In the summer of 2010 he was invited to the training camp of the New York Rangers. In October 2010 he was sent to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League and was shortly afterwards made ​​his professional debut. Internationally

McDonagh represented his country at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2007 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 2009. Two years later, McDonagh failed with the U20 selection in the quarterfinals to Slovakia. With the U.S. Senior selection McDonagh took part in the World Cup 2011.
