Ryan Pini

Ryan Pini ( born December 10, 1981 in Port Moresby ) is a swimmer from Papua New Guinea in the disciplines of dolphin and freestyle.

Pini participated in the 2004 Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games in 2006, the World Swimming Championships in 2007 in Melbourne and the 2008 Olympic Games in part.

She grew up in Papua New Guinea, Pini trained now in Brisbane and starts for the Yeronga Park Swimming Club. In the 2004 Olympics he reached to 100 m butterfly position 18, at the Commonwealth Games two years later he took over this distance already gold by beating with 52.64 seconds Michael Klim and Moss Burmester. This was the second gold medal at international championships and the first swimming medal at the Commonwealth Games ever for Papua New Guinea. With the World Swimming Championships in 2007 Pini joined the distances to 100 m butterfly and 50 m butterfly. He reached the semi-finals. In the qualification Ryan Pini occurred also at 100 m freestyle.

At the Olympic Games of 2008 Pini was the standard bearer for Papua New Guinea. He was in first place in the third qualifying round for 200m freestyle, but his time was not enough for a qualification in the semifinals. Also about 100 m freestyle he dropped out in the flow. Far better it ran for over 100 m butterfly Pini. Here he reached the final, where he finished eighth and last in order. 2010 Pini won at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the silver medal in the 100 m butterfly.
