Ryan Stoa

Ryan Stoa ( born April 13, 1987 in Bloomington, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2012 when the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center.

Career

Ryan Stoa was selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round at 34th overall position and then played four years for the University of Minnesota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division. On 27 March 2009, the striker signed his first professional contract.

At the beginning of the season 2009/10 he was despite good performances in training camp for the farm team of the avalanche, the Lake Erie Monsters, sent to the American Hockey League. His debut in the NHL gave Stoa 13 December 2009 against the Calgary Flames, his first NHL goal he scored on 9 April 2010 against the Chicago Blackhawks. The following season began Stoa at the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL before he was appointed to the NHL squad of the Colorado Avalanche after good performances in January 2011.

In July 2012, Stoa signed as a free agent a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals.

Internationally

Ryan Stoa played for the U.S. national ice hockey team at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2005 and won the gold medal, two years later he won with his team the bronze medal at the U20 World Youth Championship.
