Rygnestadtunet

The open air museum Rygnestadtunet is a museum village in Valle, Setesdalen in the province of Aust- Agder. The museum is located near the intersection between the streets R 9 and 45 RV Today's Open Air Museum Rygnestadtunet is part of the Setesdalsmuseet. The museum village is obtained in the condition in which it was abandoned in 1919 and 1923 preserved. As a museum, it was opened in 1940. Excavations in the region showed a colonization of the place since about 900 AD.

The original farmstead consists among others of the finished buildings with wood from 1349/1350 main farm buildings, a water mill, a three-storey memory from 1590, a barn, stables, a sheepfold, a forge and a sauna - mostly from the 19th century. The unit corresponds to the tradition of Setesdal to build its own building for any purpose.
