Ryōtei

As Ryotei (Japanese料 亭) very expensive and traditional Japanese restaurants are called. From the outside, they often look like traditional Japanese houses.

In order to ever be able to visit a Ryotei, you have to be mostly been recommended by a regular customer. This means that as a normal tourist often has no chance to dine in one Ryotei. The food is traditionally served from a dressed in kimono operation. The dishes themselves are served in small portions artistically prepared on valuable crockery.
