Rytkuchi

Rytkutschi (Russian Рыткучи; Chukchi Ырыткучътн ) is a village ( selo ) in the Autonomous District of the Chukchi (Russia) with 517 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village is located about 550 km as the crow north-northwest of the county government center Anadyr. It is located near the southeastern shore of the Tschaunbucht the East Siberian Sea, on the right bank of a common estuary arm of Chaun and Paljawaam little below the confluence of the right tributary Rytkutschin.

Rytkutschi belongs to Rajon Tschaunski and is located just 90 km south of the administrative center Pevek. It is the only town in the same rural community ( selskoje posselenije ).

History

The village grew out of a in the Soviet period in 1934 for the purpose of becoming settled the semi-nomadic population living Chukch established " culture vertex " (Russian kultbasa ), which was located directly at the mouth of Chaun. In the 1950s, the town was moved to its present location.

Rytkutschi one of the places of the Autonomous Okrug, whose buildings were completely renovated in fact from the 1990s.

Traffic

Rytkutschi is connected to the Rajonzentrum Pevek a 120 km winter road that follows the east bank of the Tschaunbucht. In the ice-free period is ship and year-round helicopter connection.
