Ryu Shionoya

Ryu Shionoya (Japanese塩 谷 立, Shionoya Ryu, born February 18, 1950 in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture) is a Japanese politician. He is Member of Parliament for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP ) in Shūgiin, the lower house, and former ministers. Within the LDP, he belongs to the Machimura faction.

Life

Shionoya is the son of Shūgiin deputies Kazuo Shionoya. He studied until 1972 at the Ambassador College in Pasadena, California, in 1974, he earned his degree at the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Law of Keio University.

1990 Shionoya was first elected 3 (4 seats) in Shūgiin in the constituency Shizuoka. In 1995 he was Parliamentary State Secretary in the Department of Management and coordination. After the introduction of Einpersonenwahlkreise Shionoya candidate in the Shūgiin - election in 1996 in the 8th constituency Shizuoka and lost his seat in 1999 he won the constituency in a by-election for the first time, but lost him in the 2000 election again, and did not return until 2003, back into Shūgiin back. In August 2008, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda Shionoya appointed as Deputy Cabinet Secretary, a month later, Fukuda's successor Taro Aso appointed him Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
