The devil is not good joke is a Czechoslovakian film adaptation of Hynek Bočan from the year 1985. Fairy tale The film opened in Czechoslovakia on 1 October 1985 in the cinemas.
Action
The setting is a nameless, apparently very small country in the 17th or 18th century. As this country is involved in a war, this also affects the happiness of the little Miller family Machal. Only after years of peace returns. Much has changed in the meantime, even with the Machals. Son Peter has matured into a man, but his mother is deceased.
The small country has lost the war and the treasury is empty. The king, a very good-natured and weak-willed man who is almost completely under the corrupting influence of his minister. This has only his own advantage in mind and it works secretly to overthrow the king. To finance his machinations, he needs money. So he spins with his beloved Dorota a plan to acquire the relatively profitable mill and associated courtyard of Machals. To this end, Dorota widowed Müller married.
The widower is completely overwhelmed with housework, which he has to do now and Dorota succeeds quickly, to make him indispensable. After the wedding, she rips the financial management per se and is working to make the farm profitable through expansion of agriculture. Because it but at the same time, to save money, all staff dismisses, this means a lot of work for her husband and her stepson. Especially the old miller can not do that. Peter contradicts the plans Dorotas, but gets from his father no backing. This is very hard to keep up with his much younger wife, and can wrap her around his finger. In hell, the Lord of Hell gathers his devil around, watching the people on the earth for him in animal form. Here comes Dorotas malicious behavior to language and it was decided to bring them to hell. The contract for this project gets the devil Janek, who immediately embarks on the Müllerhof. He meets Dorota, but they can initially escape him and tricking him out then, so he accidentally transports her mother Anna in hell. There, it quickly becomes clear that Anna is not the person that Janek was supposed to get.
The Minister sets an arrest warrant on with far-fetched accusations against Peter 's hair and want it to be arrested. In the first, however, manages to escape. He meets the vain Angelina and the gentle Adela, the king's daughters, just take a trip. On this occasion, Adela fell in love with him, while he only has eyes for Angelina. Finally, Peter is still arrested and taken to the castle, face trial should be done. Even the young women return there. Adela sings during a walk a song that is about how much she loves Peter. He hears it in his jail cell, but the singer can not see. So he assumes that it was Angelina. During the process, the Minister Peter out to be extremely corrupt character.
