S. Addison Oliver

Samuel Addison Oliver (* July 21, 1833 in Washington, Pennsylvania, † July 7, 1912 in Onawa, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1875 and 1879 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Addison Oliver attended the common schools and the West Alexandria Academy. He attended in his hometown of Washington until 1850, the Washington College. Then he moved to Arkansas, where he was for a time worked as a teacher. After returning to Pennsylvania, he began to work in the agricultural industry. After studying law and its made ​​in 1857 admitted to the bar, he began practicing in his new profession in Onawa (Iowa). In 1861 he was District ( County Supervivor ) in the local Monona County. During the Civil War, Oliver served as Provost Marshal head of the military police in his home.
