S. Ali Raza

Ali Raza (also S. Ali Raza, * 1922, † 1 November 2007 Mumbai) was an Indian Writer ( dialogue writer) and director.

Raza's career began at Mehboob Khan, for his films Andaz (1949 ), Aan (1952) and Mother India (1957 ), he wrote the dialogues. He also worked for Sunil Dutt's Reshma Aur Shera (1971) and most recently for the film English Babu Desi Mem ( 1996).

In 1968 he won a Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue writer for his work on the film adaptation Saraswatichandra.

He had his directorial debut with the movie Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye (1974 ) with Sunil Dutt, Rekha and Iftekhar. Asha Bhosle received for one of the film songs a Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer. His second directorial effort was Jaanwar (1982 ) with Zeenat Aman and Rajesh Khanna.

Ali Raza died at the age of 85 of heart failure.
