S0-102
S0 -102 (more precisely: [ GKM98 ] S0 -102) is a star in the Galactic center. He is in an orbit around the radio source Sagittarius A * and circulates this once in 11.5 ± 0.3 years. He undercuts the previous record holder S0 2 to 5 years.
The observation of S0 -102 was more than a orbital cycle from 1995 to 2012 at the Keck Observatory using adaptive optics and speckle interferometry. Since he is 16 times fainter than the ( already difficult to be observed ) star S0 -2, could be distinguished from the infrared background it late. He was after S0 - 2, the second star, whose orbit was * actually measured around the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A.
