S/2011 J 2 is one of the smaller moons of the planet Jupiter.

Discovery

S/2011 J 2 was discovered on 27 September 2011 by the astronomer Scott S. Sheppard. The moon has not yet received no official name - these are among the moons of Jupiter usually female figures from Greek mythology - but is in accordance with the Nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) tentatively identified as S/2011 J 2 respectively.

Path data

S/2011 J 2 orbits Jupiter with a semi-major axis of about 23.27 million kilometers in about 725 days. The track has an eccentricity of 0.387. The track is retrograde with an inclination of about 152 °, that is, the moon moves against the direction of rotation of Jupiter around the planet.

Physical data

Due to the brightness of the object can be estimated the diameter to about 1 km.
