Saab 210

The Saab 210 is an experimental aircraft of the Swedish aircraft manufacturer Svenska Aeroplan and car AktieBolaget. There was only one copy.

Saab dealt since 1945 with aerodynamic behavior of double delta wings and already had such models tested in the wind tunnel as 1949, the request was made, for which those currently in development Saab 32 Lansen to design a successor to the late 50s. It then emerged the drawings for the project in 1250, the Saab 35 Draken later.

To test the obtained in the wind tunnel findings in practice, there was a reduced version, known as Saab 210 you resembled roughly been the Saab 35, but had more swept wing outer edges and early to the nose cone air intakes, but during the testing cabin altitude have been reset. The built under the strictest secrecy type originated in 1950 and first flew on 21 February 1952. There were no problems with the unconventional structure and so a few days later the arrangement was issued for the construction of three Saab 35 prototype.

The Saab 210 graduated about 1000 test flights and was presented in flight on the occasion of 700th anniversary of Stockholm on 6 June 1953, the city of the public.

Today it can be visited in Flygvapenmuseum Linköping.
