Saad El-Katatni

Mohamed Saad al - Katatni Tawfik (Arabic: محمد سعد توفيق الكتاتني, Muḥammad Sa ʿ d DMG Taufiq al - Katatni, born April 3, 1952 in Girga ) is an Islamist politician in Egypt. Life

Al- Katatni graduated in 1974 graduated from the Faculty of Science of the University of al - Minya from and received a bachelor's degree in literature from the same university. He received a master's degree in science and a doctorate in 1984 in the same subject.

Al- Katatni was originally a member of the Executive Council of the Muslim Brotherhood. Since the establishment of the Freedom and Justice Party 30 April 2011 al - Katatni serves as secretary general of the Islamist party, which was founded by the organization of the Muslim Brotherhood. On January 23, 2012, he was appointed president of the Egyptian People's Assembly. After its demise, he became chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party. In July 2013 he was imprisoned by the military as part of the events surrounding the dismissal of Mohammed Mursi.
