Saaldorf-Surheim

Saalsdorf -Surheim is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgaden. It lies north of Freilassing.

Geography

The municipality is part of the Bavarian Rupertiwinkel. It is located in the hills of the Salzach River and borders the following municipalities: Freilassing Ainring and in the south, Teisendorf and petting in the West as well as running to the north. The eastern boundary of the municipality is the Salzach River, which is also the border with Austria. In the district of Attersee, the nature reserve Abtsdorfer Lake is located on the same lake, which also includes the wetland moss hair belongs. By Surheim, located at the Sur, runs the road of residences.

History

Were first written mention of the village hall and Surheim in the year 788 in the Notitia Arnonis. Saalsdorf has long been the seat of a chairman shaft of the archbishopric of Salzburg and fell in the secularisation of 1803 with Surheim to the Principality Salzburg of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany. 1805 the area came in the Peace of Pressburg with Austria, which it had 1809/10 ceded to Bavaria. The municipality was formed in 1818 after the separation of Salzburg from seven former court- quarters of Pfleggerichte Oberlebenau and Staufeneck. The previously independent municipalities and village hall Surheim were merged on May 1, 1978 a new church with the name of the village hall. Since May 1, 1994 is the community name Saalsdorf -Surheim.

Religions

The territory belonged for centuries to the Roman Catholic parish Salzburghofen. Only 1891 and 1957 were Saalsdorf Surheim own parish.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: In the wave cut shared by silver and red, above a blue wheel, which is sullied right and left with a growing blue heraldic lily, below a horizontal silver hinge, surmounted by a golden ear. The flag shows three stripes in the colors red, white and blue sequence to the issued crest.

Culture and sights

The parish church of St. Martin in the village hall was built in 1914-1915 in the style of Neo-Baroque style designed by the Munich architect Joseph Elsner senior and / or junior Joseph Elsner. The altars of the earlier church were neo-Baroque changed and adapted to the space conditions. The interior height had to be reduced for cost reasons, contrary to the original plan by three meters.

The parish church of St. Stephen in Surheim 1914 extended by a yoke and redesigned in the style of Neo-Baroque style.

A cultural feature is the custom of Aperschnalzens. Village hall is the seat of Schnalzervereinigung Rupertiwinkel, which was founded here in 1957. The Aperschnalzen is exercised only in the Bavarian Rupertiwinkel and neighboring Salzburg Flachgau.

1273 was built on a former castle hill ( Postal Steinbrünning ) the Church of St. Johann Baptist.
