Saasenheim

Saasenheim is a commune with 602 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. The community in the upper Rhine valley is part of the arrondissement Sélestat - Erstein, for Canton Marckolsheim and community association Ried de Marckolsheim.

Neighboring communities of Saasenheim are Sundhouse in the north, to the southeast and Schœnau Richtolsheim in the southwest.

Left Home

Between Sundhouse and Saasenheim there was the village left home, which was destroyed during the Hundred Years War. At the same place today stands a small church.

Community partnership

Saasenheim is associated since 1998 with two communities in the Dordogne through community partnerships: Cazoulès and Salignac- Eyvigues, in which some of the residents in 1939 was evacuated at the beginning of World War II.
