Sabancı Merkez Camii

The Sabancı Central Mosque ( Turkish Sabancı Merkez Camii ) in Adana is the largest mosque in Turkey. It was opened in 1998, the architect was Necip Dinc. This mosque was built on the Christian cemetery of the Armenians of Adana.

The mosque has six minarets, of which the front four ( placed around the central dome around) a height of 99 meters have, which are two rear 75 feet high. The largest of the five domes with a diameter of 32 meters and a height of 54 meters.

From the outside, this mosque is reminiscent of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque ( the "Blue Mosque " ) in Istanbul. The interior design is reminiscent of the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne.

The construction of 50% was financed by donations from the people and 50% by the Sabancı family of industrialists.
