Sabaneta is a town in the state of Barinas in western Venezuela. Mayor of the city is Anibal Chavez, brother of Hugo Chávez. The town of Sabaneta with community had 27,850 inhabitants in 1990. It was founded in 1787 by Juan de Alhama.

Sabaneta is the birthplace of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.
