The Sabarmati is a river in western India with a length of about 371 km.

It rises in the Aravalligebirge in the state of Rajasthan, then the longest route passing through the state of Gujarat, reached the metropolis of Ahmedabad and empties into the Gulf of Khambhat.

In Ahmedabad, on the banks of this river, Mahatma Gandhi built the Sabarmati Ashram as a residence and started from here in 1930, his non-violent salt march in the fight against the British colonialists.
