Săcele

Săcele ( German Seven villages, Hungarian Négyfalu and earlier Szecseleváros ) is a city in Romania, located in the district of Brasov in Transylvania.

The German place name seven villages had its origin in seven villages, which were probably created to protect the border. In 1950 was the administrative merger.

These seven villages have the following Romanian and Hungarian names: Baciu / Bácsfalu, Turches / Türkös, Cernatu / Csernatfalu, Satulung / Hosszúfalu, Tărlungeni / Tatrang, Purcareni / Pürkerec and Zizin / Zajzon.

Until the August 12, 2013 was one of the three variants of the coat of arms for the city Săcele shown are selected from the population.

Population

1850 lived on the territory of today's 17,212 people, of whom described themselves as Romanians 9,985, 6,340 and 872 as Hungary as Roma. As of the 2002 census, 29,915 residents were registered, of which 21,364 Romanians, 7164 Hungarians and 1,291 Roma and 75 German. Unofficial estimates, however, assume some 10,000 Roma.
