Sachau is a town and a district of the Hanseatic City Guard Insert in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Sachau is about eleven kilometers north of Calvörde between the Colbitz - Letzlinger Heath and Drömling Nature Park. The Gardelegener old town is located about ten kilometers north-east. Mieste and the colony Broad Oak are in the west, Wernitz the northwest, Solpke in the north, the east, and Jerchel Jeseritz in southeastern Sachau.

History

Sachau was until 2010 a separate municipality, which was incorporated in the course of municipal reform 2009/2010/2011 by resolution of Parliament in the Hanseatic city Gardelegen. The former municipality was a member of the administrative community Southern Altmark.
