Sacile

The municipality is located in northeastern Sacile Italy in the Friuli- Venezia Giulia in the province of Pordenone. It is located west of Pordenone and has 19 849 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The city is often referred to by channels as Little Venice because of their similarity to Venice.

The municipality covers not only the main town Sacile ten other villages and hamlets: Camolli, Cavolano, Cornadella, Ronche, San Giovanni del Tempio, San Giovanni di Livenza, San Michele, Schiavoi, Topaligo, Villorba and Vistorta.

After the earthquake of Friuli in 1348 there were reports of serious damage.

Attractions

  • San Nicolò Cathedral, built in 1474-1496 by Beltrame and Vittorio da Como.
  • The San Gregorio Church and the Church of Santa Maria della pieta, built in 1611, which serves as a landmark of the city on the Livenza.
  • Located in the northern part of the town is the imposing Palazzo Ragazzoni, named after the Venetian family who once lived here.
