Sadao District
Sadao ( Thai: สะเดา ) is a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the province ( Changwat ) Songkhla in Southern Thailand. Sadao is also a district ( Amphoe ) of Songkhla Province, the county capital is located about 70 km southwest of the provincial capital of Songkhla.
The name Sadao is the Thai word for the neem tree.
Geography
Neighboring districts and areas (from west clockwise): Amphoe Khuan Don and the Khuan Kalong the province of Satun and Amphoe Khlong Hoi Khong, Hat Yai, Chana and Na Thawi the province of Songkhla. In the southwest lie the states of Kedah and Perlis of Malaysia.
Traffic
In Sadao Phetkasem Highway, the longest road in Thailand, which connects the capital Bangkok to the border to Malaysia ends.
For train travelers in Padang Besar, the border station of the railway line to Butterworth (Penang ).
History
The area of present-day district of Sadao Tambon was over 100 years ago Sadao District Chang Lon in the province Saiburi (now Kedah ). When the British and Siam (now Thailand) signed the Anglo - Siamese Treaty of 1909, Sadao remained in Thailand.
In 1917, the Tambon Sadao was officially elevated to the Amphoe. The county is under martial law since 2004.
Management
Amphoe Sadao is divided into nine subdistricts ( tambon), which in turn together hold 67 village communities ( Muban ).
There are two cities ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district:
- Sadao ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง สะเดา ), consisting of the whole tambon Sadao,
- Padang Besar ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ปา ดัง เบ ซาร์ ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Padang Besar.
In addition, there are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) within the district:
- Prik ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ปริก ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Prik,
- Khlong Ngae ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คลอง แงะ ), consisting of parts of the tambon Phang La,
- Samnak Kham ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สำนัก ขาม ), consisting of parts of the tambon Kham Samnak
There are also seven - Tambon administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
