Saddle anesthesia

As saddle anesthesia decreased sensitivity ( hypoaesthesia to anesthesia) is called, the extent of which corresponds to the typical stocking jodhpurs. The numbness covers the area of the genitals, the area around the anus and the inner thighs. The corresponding dermatomes these spinal nerve roots S3 -S5 are so damaged.

A more acute saddle anesthesia is associated with a low spinal cord injury at the level of the spinal cord end, so a cauda equina syndrome, in conjunction and requires immediate medical treatment. Frequently occur in combination urinary or fecal incontinence and impotence, as well as a failed anal reflex as another failure phenomena.
