Saddleback Anemonefish (Amphiprion polymnus )

The Saddleback anemonefish ( Amphiprion polymnus ) is one of the damselfish (Pomacentridae ). Through its broad saddle spot below the dorsal fin, it differs from all other clownfish.

He lives in the coral reefs of the South China Sea and in the waters around the islands of Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Australian Northern Territory.

Amphiprion polymnus is up to 12 inches long.

It accepts two types of symbiotic anemones as a partner.

  • The Lederanemone ( Heteractis crispa )
  • The Teppichanemone ( Stichodactyla haddoni )

Specimens that live in symbiosis with the Lederanemone are mostly melanic. Only the white stripes and white drawing of the caudal fin are still available.
