Sadettin Ergeç

Sadettin Ergec (Arabic سعادالدين ارگج; * 1948 in Kirkuk ) is an Iraqi politician and chairman of the Turkmen descent Turkmenenfront of Iraq.

Biography

Sadettin comes from a family of Turkmen in Kirkuk, where he also graduated from the elementary, middle and Secondary Education. His university education was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ankara. In 1978 he became a teacher at the University of Baghdad. After repression of the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein towards ethnic minorities, including Turkmen and after the execution of the previous Turkmenenführers Nejdet Koçak he moved to the University of Sulaymaniyah. 1982 after the closure of the university in Sulaymaniyah, he moved to the University of Mosul and from there to the University of Tikrit, where he worked as a teacher until 2003. He was elected by a large majority chairman of the Turkmenenfront of Iraq in 2005.
