Saeed Jalili

Saeed Jalili, (Persian سعید جلیلی ), English transcription usually Saeed Jalili, (born 1965 in Mashhad ) is currently Chairman of the Security Council of Iran (May 2012). He was previously Deputy Foreign Minister and as such responsible for European and American Affairs.

He took part in the first Gulf War, where he lost half of his right leg, studied political science and received a doctorate in. Jalili then taught political science at Imam Sadiq University.

He was appointed by the Supreme Leader Ali Chamene'i to his office manager in 2001. With the election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2005 he was elected to the leadership team and held the post of Vice - Minister of Foreign Affairs.
