Safeco Field is a baseball stadium in Seattle, Washington. It is the home of the Seattle Mariners, a Major League Baseball team in the American League. The namesake of the stadium, the Safeco is an insurance company based in Seattle. The naming rights cost the company 40 million U.S. dollars.

The stadium has a capacity of 46 621 spectators (excluding seats) and a movable roof. The total building costs, until the opening of 517.6 million U.S. dollars to Safeco Field was at that time the most expensive baseball stadium in the world.

It was opened after two years of construction on 15 July 1999 with the play of the Mariners against the San Diego Padres. Safeco Field is the team as a replacement for the Kingdome, an indoor stadium, just north was adjacent to the new stadium by 2000.
