Saffloz
Saffloz is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Saffloz is located on 654 m above sea level. M., about 23 km east of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in a depression on the high plateau of Champagnole Combe d' Ain between the west and the chains of the high Jura in the east, near the Chalain.

History
Is first mentioned the town in the 12th century under the name Dessessart -Flots. Dessessart is on exsartum, the past participle of Late Latin word exsarire ( clear, speak to cultivate ) due while Flots means as much as bog, marsh. Over time, the place name changed to the present Saffloz. Since the Middle Ages the village belonged to the reign of Châtelneuf. Together with the Franche -Comté it came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.
Attractions
