Saffron bun

The Lussekatt (plural lussekatter " Lucia cats "), even saffranskuse or julkuse called, is a traditional Swedish pastries, which gets the distinct yellow coloration of its most typical ingredient, saffron. Lussekatter are traditionally baked on Lucia festival, which is an important pre-Christmas holiday in Sweden and is celebrated on 13 December. The lussekatter you drink coffee or mulled wine.

Lussekatter come in many different forms. The traditional and most common form, called julgalten, the string of dough is rolled up at the ends in the opposite direction, so that it is similar to a "S". Then in the middle of each one raisin is set. If two thus formed lussekatter placed side by side, they are called julvagn ( " Christmas Car "); arranged in a cross shape lussekatter hot julkors ( " Christmas Cross "). Other forms are lindebarn, kyrkporten, prästens called hår or Sakaka.
