Sagem

The Sagem ( frz: Société d' Applications Générales Électriques et Mécaniques ) was founded in 1924, a French corporation, which since 2005 has been part of the Safran group. In the corporate portfolio, among others, mobile phones, consumer electronics, military electronics and biometric security systems were found.

The company had 2003 claims to 14,675 employees and a turnover of 3.18 billion euros, of which 1.08 billion euros on the cell phone sector. In France, Sagem leader among mobile phone manufacturers in Germany was among the five largest and among the world's ten largest.

In May 2005, the French engine manufacturer Snecma and Sagem Group have joined forces to saffron with its headquarters in Paris. After the merger, saffron specializes increasingly on defense and security technology; the business and mobile networks were performed separately under the name of Sagem Communication. As of August 2007, the company split from the segment mobile phone under the name of Sagem Wireless. In January 2008, Sagem Communication has sold a majority stake in the American Gores Group and Sagem Wireless sold to the French financial group Sofinnova in August 2008. 2009, Sagem Communication has been renamed Sagemcom. End of 2009, Sagemcom approximately 6,000 employees and generated sales of 1.185 billion euros in the four company divisions Energy & Telecom, Documents, Broadband & Residential terminals and digital set- top boxes. All companies, except Sagemcom are now bearing the name of saffron in the company logo.
