Saguache County, Colorado

The Saguache County is a county in the central part of the U.S. state of Colorado. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Saguache.

History

Saguache County was formed in 1866 from parts of the Costilla County and Lake County. Saguache means in the language of the Ute Indians, " Blue Earth " or " water on blue earth ".

Geography

The County is the Crestone Peak, on the edge of Custer County, which is also represented by the San Luis Valley. The Crestone Peak is the largest mountain in the so-called Crestones ( four " four thousand" Crestone Peak, Crestone Needle, Kit Carson Mountain, Humboldt Peak).
