Sahitya Akademi Award

The Sahitya Akademi Award (Hindi: साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार Sahitya Puraskar akādamī ) is a literary award from the Sahitya Akademi in India, which is awarded annually to authors who wrote their works in one of the following twenty-four Indian languages ​​:

Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Meitei, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.

The award was introduced in 1954 and is endowed with prize money of Rs 100,000. The purpose of this award is to recognize and promote excellence in writing one of the aforementioned Indian languages. The selection process is always held in the previous twelve months.
