The SAI Quiet Supersonic Transport ( QSST ) was an American manufacturer of Supersonic Aerospace International ( SAI) project to develop a supersonic business aircraft.

Development

In 2001, SAI instructed in a comprehensive $ 25 million dollar project, the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works to develop a supersonic business aircraft. The QSST should per piece cost 80 million U.S. dollars and can accommodate up to 16 passengers. Originally, the first machine in 2014 should be capable of flight, the first delivery was scheduled for 2016. After problems with the financing you first moved the schedule for the maiden flight at 2017 before the project was canceled in 2010.

In the QSST the transition to supersonic speed in 18,000 meters at the bottom should be observable only with a noise level of 65 dB. This corresponds to one hundredth of the Concorde noise level.
