Saïda, Algeria

Saida (Arabic سعيدة, DMG Sa ʿ ida ) is a city in the province of the same name in western Algeria ( 2006 estimate ) 130,000 inhabitants.

The city lies on the southern slopes of the Tell Atlas at a strategically important position. In Roman times, was on the site of a fort in the 19th century, the Algerian freedom fighters Abd el-Kader had a fortress here.
