Sailing By

Sailing By is the title of a short piece of music by the English composer and arranger Ronald Binge ( 1910-1979 ). Binge is known primarily as an employee of Annunzio Paolo Mantovani and valid as the author of " easy listening music" style of Mantovani Orchestra.

" Sailing By " is used every night from the radio station BBC Radio 4 at about 0:48 as theme song or jingle of marine weather forecast and many British art. The catchy tune of " Sailing By " has been used for generations often associated with the At bedtime and only indirectly to the navigation.

The Britpop band Pulp chose " Sailing By " as a motive for their "Desert Iceland Discs". Lead singer Jarvis Cocker said in an interview, " Sailing By " have served him for years as a sleep aid.

Plans to remove the BBC in the mid- 1990s " Sailing By " from the program, led to angry public reactions. The recording of the BBC is not commercially erweblich, but there are several very similar versions on the market.
