Sailly-Saillisel
Sailly- Saillisel is a northern French village with 489 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality belongs to the canton Combles and is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Combles.
Geography
The community is located about five kilometers northeast of Combles at the Département road D1017 ( former Route nationale 17). The branch of Autoroute A1 and A2 autoroute is partly due to the municipality. The eastern part of the municipality Saillisel has grown together with Sailly.
History
The municipality was part of the scene of the Battle of Bapaume (1871 ). The advance of the Allied forces in the Battle of the Somme in July 1916 came to a halt here. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
